Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920’s.
His ‘Method’ of exercise develops the deep postural muscles which support the joints. It enables the musculoskeletal system to work more effectively, lessening joint strain and balancing the pull of the powerful muscles on the skeleton.
The technique facilitates the body’s muscles to work at their optimum level, helping to create a longer, leaner figure. It can be used to rehabilitate after injury, strengthen and balance areas of recurrent injuries and reduce recovery time.
